Speaking Engagements

I thoroughly enjoy interacting with audiences large and small. I am available to speak on the following topics:

  • Clinical Management of Rett Syndrome
    (common symptoms and treatment)
  • Research Updates
(where we have been, where we are headed)
  • Better Not Bitter
(coming to terms with the pain of diagnosis)
  • The Light is ON and She is IN There
    (for schools)
  • Welcome to the Club You Never Wanted to Join
(how to laugh when all you want to do is cry)
  • Care for the Caregiver
(how to be the best caregiver by taking care of yourself first)
  • Not Being Able to Talk is not the Same as Not Having Anything to Say
    (for schools)
  • A Journey of the Heart
(the lessons we learn from our special children)

Kathy Hunter

You were such a wonderful and knowledgeable speaker at our conferences in Australia and New Zealand. One of our newest parents said you were the most inspirational person she had ever met and she has come home with new found strength to take care of her daughter. The girls you visited at school have benefited because of the help and support you were able to give to the teachers and the pupils who were able to ask questions which had been puzzling them for some time. The emails have been full of renewal and strength to continue on with the wonderful parenting that you do and the hope that the research gives. What blessings you have given to all of us in that time with sharing your hope, learning and ideas and the ache that goes with your child not meeting normaldevelopmental milestones.

From the first time I saw you speak in St. Louis in 1999, I wanted to help. That night, I thought you were one of the most passionate, articulate, down-to-earth people that I had ever seen. You are a sage with so much wisdom… you are a pioneer, an angel to many, and have made an incredible difference in the lives of many. I, for one, am a fan.

Kathryn Kissam, IRSF Board Chair

“I am truly looking forward to your participation at our conference. I know your words of wisdom and knowledge have always been cherished but now they will be like pure gold.  You are loved.”

Marilyn Archibald,
Southwest Rett Syndrome Alliance

“I really enjoyed Kathy Hunter’s speech. Thank you for coming to the conference and sharing your story. I admire you so very much and you really are an inspiration to me.  I really needed to hear encouragement because I am a single mom and you provided that just by being there.”

Joanne Cook

“The Possibilities Conference was just two months after Ellie's diagnosis, and listening to your welcome speech was the first time I'd felt connected to another human since Ellie's disabilities became obvious.  I thought I would be alone forever.  You are awesome.”
